The Opportunity
Nutanix is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Developer to join its Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) team. The Nutanix Database Service (NDB) provides a unified platform to manage and operate databases at scale through an intuitive user interface and REST API, supporting both open-source and enterprise database engines. The platform enables organizations to standardize database operations while improving efficiency, scalability, agility, and cost-effectiveness across the entire database lifecycle, including provisioning, high availability, patching, scaling, upgrades, backup and recovery, and database cloning.

What You Will Bring
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, and develop core components of a multi-cloud, hybrid Database-as-a-Service platform.
- Analyze and understand developer-centric database use cases and translate them into scalable and innovative technical solutions.
- Design and implement intuitive, user-friendly features and APIs.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, documentation, and product management, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Participate in the complete secure software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through design, implementation, testing, and production deployment.
- Ensure system designs are scalable, maintainable, robust, and aligned with long-term product strategy.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in developing microservices-based architectures, Kubernetes, and cloud-native applications.
- Experience in enterprise software development in one or more of the following areas: RESTful APIs (including OpenAPI specifications), workflow management systems, orchestration platforms, or database management systems.
- Strong programming expertise in at least one of the following languages: Go, Java, Python, or C++.
- Demonstrated ability to write efficient, high-quality code and perform thorough code reviews.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
